Certain MCA personalities getting more coverage in The Star
One is beginning to wonder whether in The Star there are certain MCA personalities who are more newsworthy than others. Following a charming write-up on the Wanita MCA chief, Dr Ng Yen Yen, last weekend, we have yet another breezy report on her winning ways (12 March).
This time it is framed in terms of a doctor’s prescription to her voter patients. Speaking at the parliamentary seat of Raub that she is defending, Ng opined that “the elections are not about getting sympathy…it is about how I can serve you and why I can do better than other candidates.”
Ng’s analogy is to never marry someone “out of pity.” Barring any serious discussion on whether her present "polygamic marital" relationship with her electorate is largely founded on convenience, one can nevertheless detect that the emotional ties she is promoting is very much steeped in the allure of developmental goodies.
Perhaps to hint of better things to come, the article was accompanied by a colour photograph of a beaming Ng together with the Raub Wanita Umno chief holding a “good harvest” of giant mangoes.
