Four "popular" blogs - so says The Star

Another article on Malaysian bloggers was published yesterday. This time it was in The Star and written by Michael Cheang, who focused on four blogs and the blogger behind each of them.

Just why the attention was on those four - out of reportedly at least 10,000 blogs in Malaysia - is a puzzle. Cheang claimed they were popular. Really? How so? Nothing. Not a word was given. Is it too much to ask for evidence to back the claim?

But The Star does not appear to be bothered. Does it not have an editorial policy on what gets published or the importance of supporting claims?

Or is this yet another instance of the mainstream media trying to distract the public from Malaysian blogs offering socio-political commentaries or monitoring the Malaysian media scene?
