The Propaganda Paper's idea of fair election coverage

A quick random survey of election coverage in the pages of The Star (main section) for Thursday, 6 March revealed the following breakdown:
  • 31 pro-BN articles
  • 1 pro-BN commentary (V.K. Chin)
  • 1 pro-BN letter to editor
  • 4 BN full-page advertisements
  • 3 reports on the Opposition (including one reporting heart attack of DAP official)
  • 2 neutral reports (1 on armed forces postal voting and 1 on return of Kelantanese)
Interesting to note that of the 31 pro-BN articles, 7 have anti-Anwar headlines.

Also interesting to note that Najib features in only one of the 31 pro-BN articles and that is on p.12.

Kim Jong Il would be very proud of the NST, Star and the rest of the BN media harem.

All hail the Great and Perfect Radiant Leader Abdullah Badawi!

I don't think we can blame BN for taking whatever advantage they enjoy as the ruling party. In fact I don't think fair competition exist any longer today. It's all about survival.
Having said that, I do feel despite all the obstacles, the opposition or independent candidated still have fair chances to win the voters' vote. It had happened before and it is not impossible feat to achieve. Bigger effort will be required since the Malaysians attitude towards change is almost non-existence as we always prefer to play it safe. This not only apply to opposition parties and independent candidates but also to BN's candidates in Kelantan as they try to wrestle Kelantan back after 18 years. Talk about Najib not getting much publicities... how about other BN's candidate that were thrown into battle in unfimiliar teritories, outside their own area? What about top 3 Bajau leaders in Sabah that were dropped from BN's candidancy? And how about several young minister and ex-minister sons involvement in this upcoming election? Surely this tactics are not for this election but rather looking ahead towards after election. - http://myweblog.ismailn.info/?p=110
